I pieced a "one shape" quilt top about 1-1/2 years ago, maybe longer. It was BC (before Covid) so it was at least that long ago. Once I finished it I had no idea how I was going to quilt it, so there is sat, and sat, and sat.
The other day I had about 1/2 hour before I had to leave the house for a PT session so I went up to my quilt refuge and looked around and spotted, yes you guessed it, the "one shape quilt top". I thought, if I don't do something with it soon I never will. So I cut out backing and batting and put it up on the quilt rack and left for my appointment.
When I got back I was determined to quilt it "somehow". After staring at it for awhile I decided to outline the one repeating shape in the strips, which is a parallelogram. I started outlining the first row on the right ignoring the large expanses of blank fabric. By the time I had done a few shapes I realized I could quilt the entire top the exact same way. Problem solved! Once I decided on the quilt pattern I was able to finish the entire quilt in about 3 hours.
And to think it took me so long to get started!!!
